International Mountian Day 2021 - Sustainable Mountain Tourism & Sports

To celebrate International Mountain Day 2021, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) in collaboration with Alpine Club of Pakistan Riphah International University, Pakistan Sports Board, Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan, Pakistan Association of Tour Operators, Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and Hashoo group organized a 3-day program to raise awareness about the importance of mountains in human existence and to highlight the potential and restrictions in mountain development. The inaugural event of the International Mountain Day was held on 10th December 2021 in the President House followed by the Conference on “Sustainable Mountain Tourism” based on the theme of International Mountain Day 2021 on 11th December 2021 at Pearl Continental Hotel Rawalpindi and a field event “Eco-Hike on Trail 5 Margalla Hills Islamabad on 12th December 2021. At the inaugural ceremony of the International Mountain Day event at president house, awards were presented among the mountaineers and persons with valuable contribution in the field of sustainable mountain tourism under the categories of Climate Change, Sustainable Tourism & Mountaineering & Adventure Sports.

NTCB

Tourism is a focused area of the present government. Several initiatives are being undertaken to garner the potential offered by the tourism industry. To develop and enhance coordination with provinces, federal ministries, and private actors, facilitate in the development of policies, strategies, framework, etc, to market and promote tourism potentials nationally and internationally; and capacity building for the provision of quality human resource, the Government has constituted the National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB).
