A consultative workshop on enhancing B2B Linkages to promote tourism between Pakistan and China was held on 06-09-2021 in the conference room of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC). The meeting was chaired by Mr. Aftab Ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director, PTDC and attended by all the key stakeholders and representatives of different departments and organizations including Mr. Zhang Heqing, Cultural Counselor/Director, China Cultural Center in Pakistan, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali and others(September 06, 2021)

A productive series of four consultative workshops on the formulation of an Integrated Tourism Plan for Islamabad Capital Territory carried out at PTDC Head Office. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director of PTDC chaired these sessions and more than 70 key stakeholders including public sector departments and agencies, private sector organizations, tourism and hospitality trade association, non-profit associations and clubs, media outlets and academia participated in these consultative workshops and shared their input and recommendations for the formulation of comprehensive tourism development plan for Islamabad.(August 24-27, 2021)

93rd Meeting of PTDC Board of Directors meeting was held on August 23, 2021 at Committee Room PTDC Head Office, Kohsar Block, Pak Secretariat Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Aftab Ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director, PTDC to discuss the following: (August 23, 2021)

• Update and progress regarding the leasing out of Properties of PTDC located in GB & AJK.

• Appointment of Managing Director, PTDC.

• Direction of Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat regarding Public Petition-PP 3745 pertaining to Federal Government/PTDC Land at Gaddani, Balochistan.

PTDC in order to celebrate 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, organized a vehicle rally on 14th August 2021. Over 120 vehicles including cruiser bikes, Harley Davidson motorbikes, sports performance bikes, classic vintage cars, 4x4 off-road jeeps participated in the event.

On the occasion of the Independence Day of Pakistan, a virtual event was organized by the Pakistan Business Professional Council - Abu Dhabi on the 14th August 2021 H.H. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Patron-in-Chief of the Council gave his special message for Pakistan Independence Day. Mr. Aftab ur-Rehman Rana, Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) also shared his views & comments in this special online webinar.

The book by Dr. Omar Mukhtar " Once Upon a time in Murree" launched. The Harvard Club of Pakistan organized a webinar on this book on 7th August. Mr. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director of PTDC was invited as one of the panelists to join the discussion on this book. Mr. Rana appreciated the effort of Dr. Omar Mukhtar by making a remarkable contribution on the history and heritage of Murree through this book. He stressed on the need to preserve Murree's rich heritage from further decline and suggested to transform Murree into a heritage hill station with detailed heritage legislations and enforcement. This recently-published book comprehensively maps the heritage of Murree using easy to understand handmade maps. This book by Dr. Omar Mukhtar focuses on stories of colonial Murree including schools, churches, villas and hotels, and attempts to make the reader relive Murree of yesteryear.(August 09, 2021)

A meeting with Karar Haideri , Alpine Club was held on May 28, 2021 in the Committee Room of PTDC Head office and discussed to hold events in collaboration with Alpine Club of Pakistan. Mr. Aftab-ur-Rehman Rana, Managing Director, PTDC has given assurance to Alpine Club for every possible assistance in holding of Event. The MD informed that collaboration with Baddar expo would be considered in due course in light developing Covid situation.

A meeting of the Managing Director PTDC Mr. Aftab Ur Rehman Rana, was held on May 25, 2021 with Tour Operators of GB. During the meeting the tour operators of GB discussed the matters faced by the tour operators of Gilgit-Baltistan for promotion of tourism domestic and international level. The M.D. PTDC has informed that Tourism is a priority area of the government, and a number of initiatives have been undertaken to revamp this sector. The MD assured the delegation for full support to resolve their issues.

NTCB

Tourism is a focused area of the present government. Several initiatives are being undertaken to garner the potential offered by the tourism industry. To develop and enhance coordination with provinces, federal ministries, and private actors, facilitate in the development of policies, strategies, framework, etc, to market and promote tourism potentials nationally and internationally; and capacity building for the provision of quality human resource, the Government has constituted the National Tourism Coordination Board (NTCB).
