MD PTDC Meets U.S. Embassy Official to Strengthen Tourism Cooperation

Islamabad, 2 October — Mr. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), held a productive meeting with Mr. William Bent, Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs, Embassy of the United States of America, at the PTDC Head Office to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration in the tourism sector.

The meeting focused on opportunities for promoting Pakistan’s tourism potential, with special emphasis on adventure tourism, ecotourism, and cultural and heritage tourism. Both sides exchanged views on developing mutually beneficial initiatives aimed at strengthening tourism linkages and enhancing people-to-people connections.

Welcoming the esteemed guest, the Managing Director provided a detailed overview of PTDC’s ongoing efforts and strategic initiatives for tourism development and promotion. He highlighted PTDC’s key role in strengthening Pakistan’s image as a premier and emerging tourism destination, while emphasizing the importance of business-to-business (B2B) linkages, tourism-led investment, and job creation through sustainable tourism growth. Mr. William Bent appreciated PTDC’s initiatives and expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation between the two sides. He conveyed willingness to explore the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote B2B and government-to-government (G2G) collaboration, participation in international tourism fairs, organization of online training and capacity-building sessions, and initiation of exchange and scholarship programs for tourism industry stakeholders.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to Mr. William Bent by the Managing Director, PTDC, symbolizing goodwill and shared commitment to future cooperation. PTDC looks forward to building strong and sustainable international partnerships to support the growth, promotion, and global positioning of tourism in Pakistan.
