Pakistan–Uzbekistan Virtual Tourism Forum – Expanding Bilateral Tourism Collaboration

The Pakistan–Uzbekistan Virtual Tourism Forum 2025 was successfully organized on 9th September 2025 via Zoom, marking a major milestone in promoting tourism cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Hosted by PTDC in collaboration with TDAP, the National Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, and the respective embassies in Islamabad and Tashkent, the forum brought together government officials, tourism authorities, and industry stakeholders from both countries. The session was moderated and opened with warm welcome remarks by Mr. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, Managing Director PTDC, who delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting Pakistan’s stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, adventure tourism offerings, religious sites, and modern infrastructure. Key contributions came from Mr. Sardar Yasir Ilyas, National Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Tourism, who proposed a Pakistan Tourism Roadshow in Uzbekistan and the development of competitive tourism packages for Uzbek travelers. Ambassador H.E. Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev of Uzbekistan and Ambassador H.E. Mr. Ahmed Farooq of Pakistan stressed the importance of direct air connectivity, joint tourism products, and cultural exchange initiatives. Representatives from Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, including Mr. Feruz Dodiev and Ms. Zebo Kayumova, shared insights on UNESCO heritage sites, Silk Road attractions, winter sports, and pilgrimage tourism opportunities. The forum saw active participation from tour operators and industry professionals on both sides, facilitating discussions on B2B coordination, joint tourism packages, roadshows, expos, and co-branded marketing initiatives. A Pakistan–Uzbekistan Joint Tour Operator Network was established via WhatsApp to streamline collaboration, while plans for exploring direct flight routes and promoting shared Islamic heritage were endorsed. The event marked a significant step in deepening bilateral tourism relations, fostering investment opportunities, and strengthening cultural diplomacy between the two nations.

Tourism is a focused area of the present government. Several initiatives are being undertaken to garner the potential offered by the tourism industry.
