Pakistan–Tajikistan Virtual Tourism Forum – Strengthening Central Asian Tourism Linkages

The 1st Pakistan–Tajikistan Virtual Tourism Forum 2025 was successfully organized on 20th October 2025 via Zoom, in collaboration with PTDC, TDAP, Tajikistan’s Committee for Tourism Development, and the respective embassies in Islamabad and Dushanbe. The forum aimed to enhance bilateral tourism cooperation and promote B2B linkages between tour operators and tourism stakeholders of both countries. The session was moderated by Ms. Sadia Nauman, Manager (P&P), PTDC, and opened with welcome remarks by MD PTDC Mr. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, who highlighted Pakistan’s diverse tourism offerings, breathtaking natural landscapes, adventure opportunities, and rich cultural heritage. Key speakers included Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Tourism, Mr. Juma Khonzoda Jamshed Jurakhon, Chairman Tajik Tourism Committee, and the ambassadors of Pakistan and Tajikistan, who emphasized historical and cultural ties and the potential for joint tourism initiatives. Participants discussed development of Silk Route, adventure, cultural, pilgrimage, and eco-tourism packages, improved air connectivity between Islamabad and Dushanbe, roadshows for tour operators, and people-to-people exchanges. The forum proposed establishing a Pakistan–Tajikistan WhatsApp network to facilitate ongoing coordination and explored participation of Tajik delegates in Pakistan Travel Mart 2026 and a Silk Road Festival in Islamabad. Closing remarks by Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan underscored tourism as a catalyst for economic growth, regional integration, and cultural diplomacy, reaffirming government support for collaborative Central Asian tourism initiatives. The forum laid a strong foundation for long-term cooperation and mutual growth in tourism between the two brotherly nations.
