Participation in Lok Virsa Folk festival


Islamabad 09 April, 2015: - An award ceremony for artisans of the folk festival of Pakistan “Lok Mela” was held here at Shakarparian under the aegis of National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa).

Ch. Kabir Ahmad Khan awarded with cash awards of Rs. 10000/- to Rehmat Wali in wood work and Sarfraz Hussain in Khais (blanket) weaving for their strive to keep alive the dying crafts. Lok Virsa is doing a great service to the nation by documenting, preserving and disseminating the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Pakistan.

Ch. Kabir Ahmad Khan, MD PTDC congratulated Lok Virsa for organizing the cultural event and providing an opportunity to all provinces and regions to showcase their indigenous folk culture at the national level.

Cultural and musical performances were also presented during the award ceremony, which were greatly enjoyed by the audience.
