PAKISTAN CAN TRULY TAKE PRIDE IN BEING ONE OF THE MOST GIFTED COUNTRIES IT LIES THE REMNANTS OF ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CIVILIZATIONS THE WORLD HAS BEEN A WITNESS TO: THE GANDHARA CIVILIZATION. THESE MAGNIFICENT RELICS ARE REMINISCENT OF THE GLORIOUS AGE BETWEEN 600 BC AND 600 AD. CH. KABIR AHMAD KHAN, MD PTDC.

 

In order to promote tourism, soft image and highlight Buddhist heritage in Pakistan, PTDC plan to hold Gandhara Civilization and Buddhist Heritage Week. This was stated by Ch. Kabir Ahmad Khan while talking to the Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Bharat Raj Paudyal, on 18-03-2015. Ch. Kabir Ahmad Khan said that Pakistan can truly take pride in being one of the most gifted countries in terms of natural bounties. In the north, it has an endless array of some of the highest and the most captivating peaks in the world that would be a tourist's paradise while, its the south, it's deserts and beaches become the challenge seekers to an unforgettable experience.

2.         The Managing Director stated that Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) intends to organize the Gandhara Celebration / Buddhist Heritage either in the month of May or in September to revive the Gandhara Civilization and to recover the soft image of Pakistan among the Buddhist countries. The celebration will be studded with innumerable informative and educative programmes that will give the participants an insight into the richness of the Gandhara Civilization.

3.              The MD PTDC informed that more than 150 renowned monk’s and scholars of Gandhara, travel writers, Tour Operators and Islamabad based diplomats would be invited.

4.             During the meeting MD PTDC discussed with the Ambassador different aspects and mutual cooperation to organize the event in a befitting manner and also requested that a list of renowned Buddhist Scholars and Archaeologist, prominent travel writers, tour operators dealing in Buddhist Religious Tourism from Nepal, may be conveyed to PTDC so that the official invitation for participation can be sent accordingly.
