Tourist Attractions to be upgraded

Various Buddha tourism attraction venues would be upgraded and made more attractive in Northern areas during the current financial year aiming to attract more tourist from various countries including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Srilanka etc.

Secretary Planning and Development Northern Areas Atiqur Rehman Monday told state run TV Channel PTV that a sum of Rs. 3.2 million would be spent this project. Planning has also been finalized to develop the Buddha tourists attractions near Skardu, he said. He said various projects worth Rs. 4.250 billion have already been completed in NA during the previous financial year, which was 26 percent more as compared to 2004-05. It has been decided to organize festivals in these areas with new style and grandeur, he said adding, International silk route festival would be organized in new fashion this year.
